Defibrillation training
Operate a semi-automatic defibrillator in an emergency PUAOPE001OA
Registration Details: Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) Registered Training Organisation number 90909 and ABN 63 114 756 857
Course Purpose: This training is suitable for individuals, companies and organisations to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to make them confident and competent to provide immediate defibrillation to the casualty. This includes but is not limited to the following components:
- Assess casualty and develop management plan
- Check defibrillatiion equipment
- Attach and operate a defibrillation equipment
- Recover and restor defibrillation equipment
Course Format: 3 hours face-to-face training or 2 hours face-to-face training for the re-certification course.
Course Assessment: At the completion of the course participants must demonstrate competency in performace of defibrillation.
Qualification Issued: Statement of attainment - Operate a semi-automatic defibrillator in an emergency (PUAOPEO010A) in partial completion of Certificate III in Public Safety (Aquatic search and rescue) PUA31304.
Certification: A4 display certification plus a plastic wallet card valid for one year from date of issue.
Pre-requisites: The student must be over the age of 14 to be awarded this qualification. First aid is a suggeted pre-requisite for entry to this course. Particpants with language, literacy and numeracy issues should discuss options prior to enrolment.
CPD Points: This course carries 6 points for the CPD Program in NSW.
Target Audience: This course is suitable for anyone requiring training for defibrillation.
Standards: The course complies with policy advice from the Australian Resuscitation Council.
